Lew bought JST in the GFC - I suspect he will be hesitant to make such an outlay, and risk so much capital, unless the odds are stacked in his favour. Even if he misses out, there will always be opportunities. Also if he really wants it - he can wait for a bid, and throw one in himself. Things are going his way possibly if he does want Myer.
