Anyone who follows a significant number of small@cap miners and explorers will be aware that the last couple of years have not been kind to this sector, and gold companies in particular have struggled to stem the slide in their share price.

Although I hold a few of the mid-tier and larger producers, my main interest is in the explorers and small producers (like BCN, KAU), which is a segment that I think will benefit more than the bigger companies when gold finally makes a major leg up.

Patience in investing generally pays off, whereas impatience usually comes at a cost.

I'm personally quite happy with the way that BCN has been managed over the last few years, and I believe that management deserve credit for their achievements. But I think that the best is yet to come.
