First, if there is a systemic crash, it does not matter what the company does, all will fall.Second, a market crash or a systemic event would usher in a global recession and in such environment, earnings aren't going through the roof.Third, those companies with moat who are expected to have strong earnings growth have already had those factored into their elevated valuations, and in a market downturn, we should expect PE contraction to occur,And finally, some of those specky stocks with perceived bright prospects are trading at market cap of a few hundred million with no revenue to boot. They are not in their $20-50 mil range, so a lot of exuberance already in the stock price. And the first thing such companies would do in troubled times is try to push their stock price momentarily higher to initiate a CR at discounted price.
