@Dabbler009 ... I agree about Regal having some type of plan.. Thinking outside the square, what if Regal were aiming at the ASX200 not just the 300. We would need a Mcap of over $2.1B for this or over $32.40/sh. By buying up big and forcing the thinly traded shares up to over say $33 by index time, they would have a decent percentage to unload to many funds that would all need to buy..
Some canny managers would also be buying in a different account to sell to the index fund account at the time, meaning a lot of buying overall in the next few weeks..
Hmm, OK a very short time to ASX300, but with the ASX200 rerating every quarter, could accumulate now for ASX300 in September, then keep buying for ASX200 in December, which would allow them a double whammy during a period of a lot of newer information from assay results and possibly an upgraded MRE later in the year.
Of course all this could only happen if a lot of weaker retail had been bought out by keeping the SP really low around the June/July period where weak hands would take profits, like we've just had...
This could happen if there was only one major fund holding WA1 and playing games. Only Regal would know exactly the games being played apart from their own, and assuming they have worked out they are the only ones playing, then it could be a huge pay day for them by December, and keep a decent holding in the company at huge profit...
It's not like WA1 don't have the cash to move things up in the next few months...
