Not sure if you wanted the opinion of one of the 'shorters' (really just trading short term) but i use IG markets as well. They have just opened up actually share trading in addition to cfds. Start at $8 let trade though not sure how the percentages change. They also allow access to shares on international markets.
Good trading platform and pretty good charting software (protrader). They also allow you to set up trading systems if you are into that.
