A takeover by Tabcorp is expected to have its own upside for TAB shareholders though, who are being offered shares and cash. Deutsche Bank said the Tabcorp shares could hit $14 over the next 12 months if its offer for TAB is successful.
Credit Suisse First Boston was also upbeat with a price target of $13.90 on Tabcorp which, it says, reflects the double digit earnings growth expected from Tabcorp both this, and next year.
Tabcorp shares closed unchanged at $12.88 yesterday, while TAB shares gained 3c to close at $4.57
