When I left Ranger in 2001, it was said that ranger was going to finish in one year and hopefully started Jabiluka mine by then. Surprised that Jabiluka is still not open and ranger is still going on.

You need a strong Fed gov and supportive NT gov to open the mine - John Howard was close. Money was never a problem for the indigenous people, nor the mine. Too much money was actually the problem - means too much alcohol/drugs etc, that's the main argument of the traditional owner then. Not sure what is the problem now. One thing is sure, if we have a ALP gov, then you can forget your ERA shares.

People may not know, there were actually not many people live the mine area. It's just ideology and bureaucracy.
