You're partly right.
What if a broker buys and sells shares between two entities effectively passing the shares from one hand to the other.
What if a broker does a partial sale and then reloads the open ticket with more stock - buy or sell.
What if a broker puts orders in the sell side but doesn't actually sell any stock. This wouldn't be reflected in the broker data but we can see it happening on the screen.
What if two brokers are just buying / selling amongst themselves for the same amount of money. Effectively just moving stock from one location to the other.
Some of the unassigned transactions can be unknown. Not every single transaction is reflected and allocated to a name.
Shorting... Are they selling stock they own or don't own and then buying it back. This does happen.
All of these strategies can be illegal and definitely manipulate a stock price.
I'm not suggesting any of this is happening with LOM. Just info for discussion.
