If you cast your mind back to the height of the boom the issue was not the ore itself. I am sure RIO and BHP can increase the amount dug out of the ground very quickly.
The issue is still port, rail and ships. Until there is substantial additional capacity in these three areas it will be very hard to increase supply.
GBG grabbing a berth at Geraldton was an inspired move regardless of the outcome for Oakajee.
