The M2 merger was required in order to establish a consumer customer base for VOC. It also increased the market cap to avoid potential takeover bids.
Clearly Nextgen is the concern here however, Vocus wouldn't have acquired a sub-performing company just to run the two businesses side by side. They paid for the asset, the fibre in the ground.
It will take some time to complete the integration of system/network however it will lead to a significantly lower cost to service their wholesale and corporate customers base.
Siloing the retail and corporate divisions would only slow the integration process down IMO.
