Hi Caldazar,
The reason is because that would be obvious insider trading and ASIC would kick them in the groin for it. Directors cannot increase their holdings in the weeks leading up to a massive market sensitive announcement.
Of course they may well get their friends and family to increase their holdings but we wouldn't receive notice of that.
Directors usually top up in their co's during times of limited activity.
