    yep, I saw that too - its not entirely "new" news... but it does highlight the benefit of a retailer owning their own generation assets... it's all well and good to be buying your supply on the NEM when spot prices are low (sounds a lot like demerged clean AGL would have been)... but right now AGL is in a great place - especially with their relatively fixed cost of coal.

    Can't say I am looking forward to the next few quarters of home & work electricity bills though - as sure as anything, we all know the increases will be approved and passed on and will be slower to fall once supply has increased to bring the spot prices down again.

    Back to my ongoing point about not enough new generation being developed to replacing aging & breaking coal fleets

    on a side note about energy storage systems... another potential technology (which already has a BESS system planned for construction in Australia) has recruited a local manager https://quantisnow.com/insight/2947189

    Storage will be key to allow a higher level of renewable energy penetration in the NEM 2.0
