benbo, UMC is still a very speculative stock as are all explorers. Every broker will tell you that. As long as people understand they can lose their money and they invest its fair enough. I havnt lost any money on that other explorer to whom I think you are referring as I bought very cheaply but others have lost. I also hold another io stock that I would rank as being in the top 4 (not appropriate to name on this thread)but still regard it as a high risk investment. Other than the top 4 (that includes the two majors) the rest I regard as simply being speculative grade plays. In other words very very high risk.
