BCIA Presentations 17th June 2013
I attended the BCIA presentation as an Investor in Brown Coal technology. Namely ECT/ESI.
ECT/ESI information
Spent 20-30 minutes chatting with Ashley Moore and "Megagene" during lunch about ESI.
Ashley a very strong professional presentation -using words like:
We have set up a site.
We will be building a plant.
Our product is.
JC Steele presenting with their extrusion technology and seeming very happy.
Two ARUP engineers present. I talked to one. He discussed being at a Power Station Site and checking the Site with ECT and power Company people.
ARUP having a five year history of working closely with ECT. Including the last 18 months of Design for McConnell Dowell to Construct.
Coldry Product developed.
1. By screening and adding H20.
2. Then Attrition and Extrusion.
3. Drying with Warm Air.
4. Removal of Moisture.
5. Option of Recovery of Water if required -for India,
Mongolia.
6. Stock piling of Pellets.
40 % moisture turned out as 88% dry with energy increased from 1,800 to 5,500 Kcal.
Some other concepts require 20% consumption of the Coals energy to make it.
The Power Stations will be providing the electricity to power the Coldry Plants and the Waste Heat.
1/3 of the Electrical power generations heat will be used by Coldry for drying.
>4,000 hrs of Pilot Plant Operation.
Coldry purchased energy is 113KW/Hr?Per Tonne of product.
The Coldry product is:
Process Gauranteed.
Capex is known.
Opex is known.
The Product Quality is Known.
Giving ECT a Bankable Gaurantee to Investors.
Next few months will see a Tender programme for Construction.
2015 will see Operational Validation with expansion of commercialisation to India and China.
One of the ECT presentation team stated he has invested 1/2 his superannuation into ECT shares. The whole ECT team of four people seemed very happy and smiling.
If it was a boxing match I would say ECT won and Exergen were Knocked Out-Purely based on presentation and body language.
Professor Robin Battenham -the
Prof of Engineering with The University of Melbourne discussed that there is A Lot of Shale Gas and it is coming to Australia.
He discussed that Mild HydroThermal processing(eg Exergen) increased the temperature and can give some nasty side effect products in the Well.
As in Heating Up Aquifiers.
Exergen say they'll use a small amount to get the temperature to 300 degrees.
That two methods of Mechanical working to free up a lot of water.
1. The original MU work. Must be Melbourne University.(? The Original Coldry process)
2. The Coldry Process.
That trying to separate water from Brown Coal is complicated because of the "Force Chains" effect.
Exergen
Exergens presentation was by Mr Slade Wormington, The Director/ Technical Development Manager.
Im going to Use some subjective adjectives here, so forgive Me for any offense.
Slade's presentation was Flat and nearly apologetic.
He said words to the effect of:
We would Like to look at partnerships ( ECT does).
We would Like to Demonstrate this technology.
We would Like to Look for a technology partner.
We would Like to Look at a technology that does more dewatering and drying.
1. Pilot Plant closed because of closed goldmine.
2. Have to Develope an economic model.
3. Have to prove the Technology can be scaled up.
4. Have secured a site.
5. Exergen are three years away from buildin a Plant.
6. Shareholders are: TATA, ITOCHU, THIESS, Sedgeman.
Exergen were questioned about their Slurry water content being decreased to 50% moisture content. Discussed the cost of transporting heavy water bound brown coal.
Enough of Exergen. Ignite and Kobelco seem to have very strong products. Very strong presentations as well.
If I had to bet -Id say they might be involved in the ALDP. But Im not a betting Man.
Hope that helps evryone out there feeling anxious and nervous and like Your starving for information.
