I think you have to always consider the concept that "it's not a deal until it's sealed." Alex would have a scheduled itinerary and would have stuck to that, assuming that no deals had been made. Many proposals fall through at the last minute! There are a few things that could happen now:

The target audience of the Brisbane presentation makes an investment offer to which:
a. Alex says thanks but we have enough cash for now thanks but down the track we will be looking to production perhaps we can talk then.
b. Cheers, you can have a placement on the same terms as Hong Kong investment group (more cash, but more dilution)
c. Sorry, you were too late, bad luck.

or, the Brisbane group could see the potential and seek to buy stock on market with an aim to a long term holding.
