Rupert, I can only agree with your comments. However, i think you are over estimating the affect of these "green" views will have on esi. As to an ETS, yes it certainly is (will be) a clock tax and just as effective. However, I suggest it is another tax stream proposed and justified by the "green" view rather than a political reaction to the "green" view. Government is just doing what it does best - tax. Tax to stop you, tax to make you - based on what "experts" say is best for you. Arrhhh, bring back the days when all the state was concerned about was roads, rails, ports, phones, planes and of course morality
Don't forget we live in post-modern times when anything can be constructed - what an old friend of my coins by saying "creative destruction" - don't worry people its new so its good (our experts have told us so!!)
