Thats the $64,000 question, i'm guessing they thought they could try pulling a low ball offer since the shares were trending down through shorting of TSE\BRS, although the Aussie stock market has been see sawing for some time and now trending down, when they made their offer as you know BRS was @ 84c
I've been saying for a long time the continual shorting of this stock was going to make the company ripe for a take over hostile or not, now Ferrovial are trying to take over for a song, just hope that no one in their right mind accepts the $1.35.
Having said that even if they offerred a higher price say matching at least their previous almost $2 offer from 12 mths ago, given the drop in AUD/EUR rate of late they would still be getting BRS for less in EURO than 12 mths ago....
I'm guessing all those billions of EUROs being printed out of thin air by the ECB has to find a home somewhere....
