    NLG Tops Gaming Rankings

    By Andrew Starke

National Leisure and Gaming (NLG) has emerged as the big winner in the NSW Top 200 gaming rankings for the June quarter.

The Top 200 is put together independently every quarter by the NSW Office of Liquor Gaming and Racing (OLGR), with the rankings based on net revenues from gaming.

The Meridian in Hurstville maintained its position atop the rankings, ahead of Oasis on Beamish in Campsie and the El Cortez Hotel in Canley Heights, the first of three NLG properties in the top ten.

Others in the top ten were: Campsie Hotel; Markets Hotel; Eastwood Hotel; Three Swallows Hotel; Sefton Hotel; Cabramatta Club Hotel; and Burwood Hotel.

“We have been able to more than hold our own in the NSW Top 200 gaming rankings; with the latest results for the June quarter highlighting the fact that for the first time NLG now owns three hotels in the Top 10 in the State,” said National Leisure and Gaming CEO, Andrew Jolliffe. “In fact this is a statistic that has never been achieved by any group previously.”

Jolliffe was particularly pleased with the performance of the Cabramatta Club Hotel, which rose from 17th to 9th in the rankings, and hinted at more to come from NLG’s portfolio of pubs.

“This result is very encouraging given the fact that we are yet to start really aggressively stealing market share via our strategic investment in not only refurbishments, but also game product,” he said.

NLG recently announced better than expected results for the year to June 30, with takeaway liquor and gaming boosting the bottom line across its portfolio of 36 leasehold hotels in Queensland and New South Wales.

NLG shares were at 2 cents at midday (Sep 18) today, up from 1.8 cents seven days ago.
