    Very well said and explained. Yes, there is a big difference between being a refugee (for political reasons) and a migrant (for various other reasons, which can also include for political reasons).

    Just another thing, people like to talk about "our Australian way of life". "Our Australian way of life" is a living state of mind: it grows, changes, evolves, over time, absorbing what it finds acceptable, likes, and in that process becomes an even better "our Australian way of life". It is not static, and it can never be, if it does, then that society has reached a state of decline.

    Just as an example and admittedly a simplistic one, just look around us, we have so many more different types of foods, foods that would have been thought of as "foreign" in 50s, 60s, but which are thought of no differently these days. How many time have we said "let's have a Chinese tonight". Imagine, to have said that in the 50s would probably have been labeled a commo, hehe.

    Yes, society, as a collective, is a living creature.

    I do have to point out something though, that people who willingly choose amd make Australia their home, have a duty to promote and protect its well being.
