Fees, the crack me up We invest in something because we want it to go from $1 to $2, and we quabble over a measly 20% that the people killing themselves take to do it.
In most cases if the people are good they'll expect to be well paid for it. for some investments, I'd be concerned if there were no performance fees. This is case in point. IF these guys can pull off a company which value of an investment goes from $20m in value to $200m in value- which is why we are in this thing- why on earth would they do it for free? They could go pass the hat around to their friends and raise the money, and their friends would probably pay a higher performance fee because that's the nature of the beast at the top end of town.
As for similar companies I don't know of any. Plenty of venture funds around do the same, but none I know of where the investments are established businesses (anyone?) . I know a few LICS but none do this that I know of
