    Guys, I picked up the AFR this morning and noticed BTR gets a good mention in today's section of 'Portfolio', Page 29 if you can get your hands on it. The article covers 3 copper stocks of which BTR is one of them.

    "Copper Stocks given a big tick"

    By Samantha Hutchinson (Small caps)

    The first section provides a quick snapshot of copper in general. Some quotes (but not all) by Samantha include;

    -"Gold may be favoured currency of central banks, despots and wary investors, but the chronic undersupply of copper worldwide pits the rose-coloured metal as another solid bet in the med-long term"

    -"Broker reports have offered mixed views on the long-term price of copper but analysts remain preferential toward the low-volatility metal"

    -"The declining grade of ore in many mines will maintain the deficit in global copper supplies, as producers try to extract more ore to achieve the same output".

    -"UBS commodities analyst Daniel Morgan predicts copper prices will trend down in the long term but sees value in stock"

    -"Patersons securities head of equities Jason Chesters agrees that long-term price is declining, but claims investment in the resource comprise about 9 per cent of the funds portfolio. Jason goes on to say "It's one of the few commodities that the spot price is substantially above the cost curve", "It rewards explorers to bring on new projects"

    BLACKTHORN RESOURCES

    (Exact quote from Samantha Hutchinson from article-apolgies if any spelling mistakes from me :) )

    "Patersons has a 'buy' on combined gold, zinc and copper producer and explorer Blackthorn Resources. Completion of a scoping study on Blackthorn's Namibia- based Kitumba mine has shown high grade copper in the deposit, which is beleived to be bigger than Xstrata's Ernest Henry mine in QLD.
    Patersons expects extraction to occur at a competitive cash cost of $US 1.49 pound, which is based on an open-pit extraction. Pre-feasability and underground studies are under way given higher grades have been confirmed at depth. The outcome of these studies will be give more clarity on cash cost and open pit versus underground development options.
    Canaccord Genuity analyst Jean-Francois Bertincourt rates the stock a speculative "buy"
    He believes the expansion of the Perkoa zinc project in which Blackthorn holds a 39.9 per cent stake bodes favourably for the company, but the higher grade ore at Kitumba is loacted at great depths which may delay repayment of capital expenditure and present lower initial yields for investors"

    End quote

    Once again BTR getting some good exposure through the AFR today and last week 'The Australian'.

    DYOR

    Cheers
