has had a spectacular run since September ? is close to appointing a defence adviser.
As this column reported last week, chatter in banking circles was that Bathurst was being looked over as a
takeover target, as new coal finds are increasingly scarce and there is strong demand for new coking coal
resources, highlighted by Carabella Resources? IPO in mid-December.
Bathurst expects to start producing high-quality hard coking coal ? favoured in steel making ? at a rate of
about 650,000 tonnes a year from the South Buller open pit mine in New Zealand at the back end of the year
