I would not call it a short. They are effectively locking in a downside and upside level to a portion of their holding. A short is selling without having a countering long position. It is only for a small part of their holding, and they are most probably looking after themselves on the personal front. It however does not instill confidence in the stock when you see Directors doing that. I wonder if word got out over the last few days that this was happening, and hence the pull back in the stock?
