My goat expert has corrected me, they are not grain fed but need liberal amounts of roughage in the form of hay. Goats are a bit easier to maintain in a dryer climate because their feet can be a problem in wetter conditions and because they don't build up an immunity to internal parasites like most sheep do, worms are less of an issue in drier climates because their life cycle can be broken easier.
Unlike cows, goats need a shed to be able to get into to get out of any rain
and wind. Also to get out of the sun if there are no shade trees around.
