China equivalent of Black Friday is this Thursday, every brand will be doing huge sales on ecommerce site including bubs and caprilac. i wrote to investor relations who told me that they will be increasing their marketing spend. remember when a2 milk was $1 a share, they spend huge on marketing, that's is needed to crack china market. so many aussie companies think they list on ecommerce and shopper come, that's not how china works. invest in big marketing spend to get the brand awareness. lots of infant formula brands are spending 20 million plus just to sponsor one show for brand awareness. the top selling adult milk powder in china is maxegenes, it only sells through chemist warehouse and doesn't sell in supermarket. it has huge sales in China through marketing. it sold 55k packets this month according to TMall whereas caprilac is a fraction. maxegenes also produces bioisland vitamin which has huge sales and hence Blackmore is struggling for growth. lots of these aussie brands don't even sell in supermarket and huge sales due to marketing and paying influencers. Chinese buy through word of mouth and celebrity endorsements and influencers. dyor.
