BUB is now in a stage 2 longer-term uptrend. When expanding the chart to say 1 or 2 years, the longer-term 130 and 200-day moving averages are what I first look for. I mainly stick to the All Ords (ASX 500), but sometimes venture outside it with the likes of BUB and DCC. The relatively lower market cap ASX stocks provide larger capital gain potential compared to the slower moving less volatile large cap stocks.
After a large decline when BUB and BAL were below declining 130 and 200-day moving averages, a trader like myself thinks severe downtrend, warning, bad things happen like large down price gaps when stocks are in stage 4. You need to have this mentally entrenched as a rule. So I watch from the sidelines and stay in cash until the 130 and 200-day moving averages start to flatten out (stage 1). The first signal to go long BUB was around $0.50 in Aug, 2017 when the 130 crossed above the 200.
The next opportunity to get in was when the 5-day EMA crossed above the 28-day EMA around $0.55 (Oct 12, 2017). High probability entry points are easy to see on charts compared to exits. My last exit from BUB was $0.98 (Nov 10, 2017). The 2ATR stop was around $0.91, so this was an unusually good discretionary exit.
The best entries are often in quiet times when the retail public lose interest. Sept, 2017 was such a period for BUB.
Currently, the short-term trend is down, but the long-term trend is up. I wouldn't want to short a stock that is above a rising 130 and 200-day moving average. As a tentative scenario, BUB could fall as low as $0.60 before trending up ST again.
