"The timing of Bub’s agreement comes at an opportune time – with e-commerce powerhouse JD.com announcing it will open its new regional Australian and New Zealand headquarters in Melbourne this week, as part of its expansion plan into both territories.

The deal is a win-win for both companies – it’s massive coup for the Australian dairy producer as JD is China’s largest retailer by revenue, with over 266 million active users, while Bubs falls in line with JD’s strategy of attracting more Australian brands, especially in the categories of food, agriculture, dairy and cosmetics, which are in high demand in China.

“Our customers are demanding more and more high-quality products from Australia and New Zealand, and this move is a major step toward meeting that demand,” said Richard Liu, JD.com’s founder, chairman and CEO earlier this month with regards to its new Australian headquarters."
