the ceo was paid $322k salary last year - that is precisely junior mining level pay - most of which have ceos getting $200kpa.
and bud has been far more generous in so called performance share issues and options than most junior miners.
if you pull $6m out at the top, and put in a couple of hundred k at 8c - you have a lot of firepower left if you want to buy the bottom. though its not something you need to do when you can issue yourself more performance rem.
i dont have any problem a junior ceo getting paid that amount - frankly i think its too low for the level of gamesmanship the ceo brings - but probably designed that way for tax - with house deductions he probably gets in under the $250k threshold, above which investment and business loss deductions are not allowed
