cant say BUD invented this. ohm's a database, ui and sensor array. these are common things. you can buy all the parts off the shelf or from the cloud.
even in combination its not an invention - all these things were also already offered by other groups.
each offeror tweaks things somewhat differently to others.
if the tweak is good enough it can feel like an invention because it so suits the user's needs. but its not. the actual original invention in the iphone i believe is Corning's smartglass. think apple invented the round control in the ipod. those are the actual inventions. everythign else already existed.
user-apt tweaking is what the CEO is attempting - entered a space relatively late - 5+ years after other competittors - but with a solution that's positioned differently to the competitors and trying to win market share by being more client savvy than much of the competition. bud is essentially a marketing company in the true sense of marketing (ie strategic marketing not just spin).
he did that after his generic cloud business failed to get traction and his acquisition attempts failed. the guy is a wolverine - laser like relentless focus on maintaining his business and will make every adaptation necessary, shedding every skin and pivoting like a mofo.
but not an inventor but a fuser. thats not a slight - they are equally important but distinct skillsets.
you can see in Ohm he;s trying to do 'business cool' - ie UI, visual display and unit design thats not cool per see - but is cool relative to clunky industrial offerings that previously dominated the space - in the conviction corporate clients will pay double/triple the going rate because they control purse strings not engineers and they want to be cool/slick etc.
that vanity/smart stupids market is one of the world's biggest growth markets.
there are many many ways of making a buck - v v few businesses are based on unique inventions.
some on this forum live in a 'budble' and dont realise how relatively common these kinds of offerings are.
there are dozens and dozens of offerings in this space globally. but thats still an immature market compared to most.
being first is nice. but being the most user appealing is best.
being funky has as much merit as being effective or being the original. but dont confuse them
