To buddy and his “buddies”,
The whole point of my post was that I believe that people who have been involved in a business deserve some form of ownership in it. Debating about the acquisition price etc has some point, but in this industry and especially in this sector – these types of arrangements happen all the time.
Essentially I work in an industry where I do get paid wages, many fringe benefits but most of all - a bonus if targets are met – of which part of my bonus are shares in the company. I do not pay for these shares as they are a reward for my good work throughout the year.
There are conditions with these shares, such as I can not leave the company for a period of time to gain access to 100% of them, and it is one way of the company ensuring that they do not lose good personnel, and that as an employee in theory I have a vested interest in the performance of the business.
Macquarie Bank is a business that is built on this model.
I find it really depressing reading about your problems.
I find it even more depressing that you have turned my post into some morbid point about “knowing someone”.
