'While I can see the taxing of the family home disadvantaging some'
I don't see it as taxing the family home, just balancing the books a little when one is sat in a $1m plus home and drawing a full age pension. Something has to give sooner or later. Why would one type of asset holder be disadvantaged over another.
It is most unfortunate that many consider their parents home as some sort of ATM, and right to inherit. Whilst lobbying for their parents to get a full age pension. It's all about the me, me me generation.
Far too much politics and fear mongering played around this - needs a sane cross party discussion.
