Basic economics??
Fiscal stimulus might work in the longer term if the money was put into productive areas, but showering the down and outs with a grand or so each will just ensure they squander the cash on consumption.
The endless consumption and endless growth model is wrong.
It's broken.
Spending our way to prosperity cannot succeed.
