In one of my taxable trading entities I have decided to create a speculative portfolio with $100,000 which I will call Buffetts Spec Portfolio 2011.
The stocks I have selected whilst all speculative are stocks I hope to hold for 12 months to gain capital gains tax benefit. Please note all these stocks are speculative & high risk so no investment advice is given & everyone should do their own research on these stocks. To follow additions/changes to this portfolio just add to favourites.
Whilst I hope to hold for 12 months I am prepared to sell should circumstances change.
Portfolio:
1. Albion Ltd (ALB) key driver Nickel 140,000 at 14 cents $19,600 Total $19,707.80
2. WCP Resources Ltd (WCP) key driver Ian Middlemass 130,000 at 9 cents Total $11,782.50
3. Mutiny Gold Ltd (MYG) key driver Further Gold Discoveries 100,000 at 14.5 cents Total $14,582.50. (MYG could easily be brought cheaper in the few days if stock is sold out of recent capital raising) As I will be on holidays committed today rather than wait for possibly lower price.
4. Mantle Mining Ltd (MNM) Key drivers Coal /Technology/Directors Buying 300,000 at 6.543 cents Total $19,737.97.
5. Breakaway Resources (BRW) Key drivers Copper/Nickel Exploration ground/share of profit from a copper mine reopening/excellent outlook for copper 240,000 at 8.41 cents $20,200.50 (dont chase stock as just had recent capital raising & more stock could come available soon from SPP).
Hope to have another one later today & save one for Xmas Day (still buying today)!
Please note several of these companies have just had recent capital raisings (MYG, BRW) & could easily fall back in the short term. Suspect I could have bought some of them cheaper over the next few weeks but wanted this exercise completed by Xmas, hopefully over next 12 months extra cost in purchasing costs becomes irrelevant if they perform.
In selecting these stocks I have ignored charts & will not as usual be using any stop loss triggers. Selections have come from my recent research of ASX announcements, consideration of the risk/reward ratio & their current market capitalizations. Probably about another half dozen stocks were consider but I wanted a range of commodities represented & preferably under 20 cents to maximize price leverage.
Regards
Buffett
PS Whilst they all look good now undoubtedly some will not perform as expected. Hopefully the performers can carry the non performers till they are sold out of the portfolio for not too much damage. Whilst I would love to have them all as winners in 12 months that is not a realistic expectation. Also prepared to sell any of these stocks should they have an unsustainable price spike & pay the full tax rate rather than the capital gains rate.
