Vacant residential blocks are a bad investment but they haven't always been. I bought my first block for $59,000, held it for a year to buy a house and sold it for $71,000. It sold again 12 months later for $125,000. Amazing how important sentiment plays in this game. And luck. That was early 2000's when you could build a quality home through a private builder for 7 grand a square. With no plastic and no foam.
