It is very simple really, you cannot have a 30% increase in lithium use for batteries, if the increase in out put from the miners is only 10% or less. It is very simple mathematics. Whatever suddenly becomes available for the market will be used, and hence PLS will have DSO, and I'll be not surprised if it ends up being a lot more than 100,000t/mth.
Te reason is simple, the world needs the lithium, so the price will be high enough to make it viable. Who else in the world has enough resource to not compromise their long term concentrate production to sell DSO. Answer KDR, with an unknown quality of ore, while the Pilgangoora ore is known to be large grade and good (the best quality, grain size similar to Greenbushes that has been the standard. )
Do GXY and NMT ore add 30% to world lithium supplies?? ans NO. That is a deliberate HUGE no. Will brines make up the difference in what is needed?? Again a huge NO. So where will the needed lithium come from??
The only answer is from PLS DSO sales that can be used in China's underutilised capacity. It is the only aspect that makes sense, and something that Ken Brinsden is very good at producing, after getting 4 or 5 mines started up for Atlas.
Recent announcements showed we are well on the way to getting the mine up and on schedule to deliver the first DSO to Ruifu, that has, or seems to have suddenly become under ShanShan's umbrella.
From the sale of DSO perspective, IMO it is possibly one of the major reasons ShanShan went down this path. Do they have their own concentrating plants in China? I have no idea. Do they need to concentrate 1.5% ore before converting it? Again I have no idea, but they seem to want access to our DSO and GXY's concentrate, so they are planning to expand at a rapid rate. But so is everyone else.
PLS are in a fantastic situation compared to everyone else, so IMO 2017 should be our year Share Price wise as the market wakes up to what we have, and what the world NEEDS.
