I just returned from Europe , visited friends in Austria just retired , who were absolutely shocked when I told them that after 30 years working in Australia I am not entitled for pension, ( not once unemployed), paying taxes all the time, and I will be forced to move from Australia into 'cheaper' country. IMO Australians got rocks in the head , when allowing politicians and public servants to enjoy European type pensions and in same time pretending how many people will live of their super ??? nearly nobody... real fact is ONLY about 10 % and rest of the country will be living on pension which is less than wage of 14 years old. IMO, problem is Australian are absolutely trustworthy and also ignorant to everything past the shores of this island. Here is as example extract of pension calculation in country with similar name Austria ( no means tested ): "Retirement pensions are generally calculated on the basis of the level of income during the last ten years of payment and the overall length of the period of contribution. For example, if a person's "full working life" is forty-five years, he or she receives a pension equivalent to about 80 percent of his or her previous net income, which is adjusted on a regular basis to compensate for subsequent increases in the cost of living. A widow receives 60 percent of her late husband's pension."
