You said ......"I just returned from Europe , visited friends in Austria just retired , who were absolutely shocked when I told them that after 30 years working in Australia I am not entitled for pension,"

I find your post a little hard to understand but I assume your friends in Austria who have just retired, and you told them that you have worked for 30 years in Australia and that you are not entitled "for" a pension.

Why would you or should you be entitled to a pension?

You have not been a super contributor for 30 years and most likely that you have not yet reached retirement age to be eligible for the government pension.

The thing one needs to remember when comparing Australian retirement benefits - pensions etc, with European schemes, rules etc, is that these retirement pension schemes have been going on in Europe for an eternity when compared to Australia.
You just can't make comparisons between the two because they are like chalk and cheese.....imo.

Anyway, I will assume you started work at age 18 and have worked continuously for 30 years = 48 years old? and your Austrian friends say you should receive a pension? It just couldn't work and you only need to look at what is happening in other European countries with changes to age of retirement etc.
