Yes trtkjd1, I was basing that on 1 shift and of course they could run more than 1. I had a good talk to Peter Hepburn-Brown at the Gap Getaway evening and seemed keen on a decline. I think it's also a safety issue as with a decline there are no moving parts, wearing cables or the like. NG has always exhibited some dislike of the shaft transport system stating that workers lives are involved. Whether an upgrade would negate those worries I don't know.
I expect they will upgrade the shaft system but ultimately a decline will provide a large percentage of production. I think eventually they would prefer to not use the shaft for haulage at all but am talking a couple of years timeframe at least.
