My 2 year PLS investment anniversary occurred recently.
I knew when I invested there'd be ups and downs. Oversupply and undersupply, manipulation by the BEOT. Even TriBeCa at the time, mentioned that international Fundies were playing their role to stifle Lithium mine development. The roar of disinformation has been deafening.
I liked PLS because of its size and quality and also because it was low cost for LiOH. That has maintained. I was also impressed with the management. I felt from my own life experience, they have the personal ingredients for success.
This low period was inevitable. Small miners are struggling and startups stifled. However large players like ALB, WES and Ganfeng are still accumulating miners while prices are most advantageous.
All indications suggest the POSCO JV is a goer, with terms agreed and only awaiting contract sign offs. The fact that it is held back to the partnering announcement suggests POSCO may be one of the suitors.
We were originally going to finance the JV with a Convertible Bond issue of USD80m with the balance from operating profits. Its now expanded to a 40ktpa operation. I would imagine now that KB would look to sell enough of the Pilgangoora Project to pay for that investment, pay down Stage 1 debt ($A150m?) and perhaps another parcel to another player who wants to downstream JV with us (is that you Great Wall?).
I feel very confident the financing will go ahead and our debt will be paid off by virtue of the partnering process. Its the price that is to be negotiated.
An interesting point remains Mt Francisco. We finally got approval to drill around the time Gina took AGO. Then our DSO deal was stopped for unexplained reasons. We drilled a couple of holes and then decided to stop. We struck Lepidolite they said. A couple of holes. Hmmm. Historical testing revealed Spod in some holes. My point is, there is vast terrain where MRI has detected strong potential and we have barely tested it.
If we get this partnering deal done, resolve Stage 1 recovery issues and release Resource upgrade results, we might then indulge extensive Mt Francisco resource discovery drilling.
PLS was always a long term investment ... and still is. Its not my intention to sell my shares.
