    In my experience you don't convey blast rock and defiantly not 15 to 20Km, if they went the conveyor option they would need to have the crushers at Mt Kare. By the time you spent money installing power, water, crushing circuit and 20 km of conveyors plus toll treatment of the ore it wouldn't be viable for 1.7 Mt per year. Trucks are needed regardless so its just the economics of the trucks going a couple of k from the pit to the ROM pad at Mt Kare or 15-20 k to the ROM pad at Porega. Trucks to Porgera, mine at Mt Kare or take over by Barricks. But I do know the owner of the company that services all the conveyor equipment at Porgera, he's been on site many many times and obviously knows the terrain, prices etc..so will ask him his thoughts
