People either have short memories or can't read announcements or newspapers properly.

This is what Lord said when he first bought into IMP.

"...there's a game plan that involves steps two, three and four. This is step one, we talked to the company about step two - the company's run by Bruce McLeod, a good bloke. And depending on what they want to do, steps three and four could follow. All we're doing is buying some assets at a discount with an idea of where we might want to go in the longer term. The Imperial One investment is an opportunistic play with a long idea in mind."

So what is the idea?

"I won't talk about that yet. I love doing these little things. If you get 'em wrong, you get 'em wrong. We're genuine about trying to create value for shareholders, including ourselves."

The one thing that people seem to have forgotten is that this gas play was something that Imperial negotiated before Lord bought into the company. It had nothing to do with him and nothing to do with Steps 2, 3 and 4 that he eludes to. He states that he is involved in a long term idea. Maybe him topping up is his next step before he brings what he proposed to bring to the table.
