My bull is more on the long term side of index funds.
If we get a 2023 recession and can buy the XJO or XAO at around -10% from today.
What are we receiving on an annual basis in the long term:
6% Dividend Franked (65% payout ratio at 13 PE)
4% Earnings Growth (12% ROE on 35% retained earnings)
1% Valuation Expansion (13 PE to 15 PE)
11% CAGR which when compounded is 4 times return in 13 years
So that would mean buying in 2023 for quadrupling in 2036.
No need to take risk trying to become an expert and fortune teller of individual companies (that we see most fail at on HC especially) so a 13 year passive investment to earn 4x is a good potential reward for me.
