    As you said, inflation is just the price going up. You are not getting richer.

    $50K in 1960 is worth a heck of a lot more than $500K today. If that was your house you would now be poorer

    You want to be richer, that is why in 20 years it would not be a safe bet your house would make you as rich as it would today if you sold it.
