In this instance, you'll find it's called BORROWING stock (and selling it), not SHORTING ... and I know of at least one broker offerring stock in WMT at present. Totally legit.
Anyway, so what if people are selling (err, borrowing and selling) stock ahead of the rush for the gates when spp stock is issued.
I suspect a lot of this could simply be profit taking. Hardly should come as a surprise. Have you seen the sharp rise this stock has put in? Do you seriously think this is sustainable on the short term? If so, good for you ... but I dont expect the majority to leave a 100% profit from a placement sitting on the tabel for too long.
As for the suggestion of illegality behaviour, I urge the poster to chill out and do some more research on market instruments (unless creating outrage is the real purpose behind the post. lol)
