I'm old fashioned, and a "believer" that business fundamentals will deliver SP performance over time. I'd prefer the board focus on continued planning and running of the business than trying to fight the vagaries, uncertainties, illogicalities, and downright orneriness of SP, which is the result of multiple and complex reasons why people and institutions buy and sell (I'm also against any performance being tied to SP).

However, if it is not too much of a distraction from running the business, and they believe that business updates will provide more transparency, then yes, ASX announcements can sometimes provide support. Along the lines of "Reaffirms Annual revenue and profit Guidance" notices, but toooooooo many "we're fine, nothing to see here" announcements can sound desperate and have opposite effect .... ?
