    Soooo

    •Borders more  open,

•newspaper predictions that in WA there will be nowhere to house the influx of new workers given the tight rental market,

    • a few companies (sadly) going into administration with workers potentially seeking new jobs and easing the strain a little.
Recently: AvidSys already mentioned and last week, and  Kwik Transport and Crane Hire was put in the hands of McGrath Nicholl [the West Australian 11/11/21] .. “The Smith-Gander family’s crane hire and transport group Kwik has been hit with a rapid purge of staff as administrators try to save profitable parts of the sprawling operation.
Insolvency accountants from McGrathNicol laid off around half of Kwik’s 80 staff on Thursday…”
(Primero was advertising for a crane operator a while back)

    • Weekend news the first of two new carparks at Perth airport ….  (total costs for both $370m and the build to
employ about 800 construction workers)…. has been approved.
The story includes a specific note the build, commencing early next year will be “supporting future growth of the FIFO workforce by improving access and egress at Terminal 2, and alleviating bottlenecks experienced at peak periods.” [The West Australian 13/11/21
(Having seen the FIFO congestion that currently jams Perth’s terminal two and makes airport drop offs or pick ups a nightmare, and considering the ingress of new workers to WA from other countries and interstate,  I don’t think the new plans are a moment too soon.

    • And news today [“Woodside secures $5 billion deal for 49pc sale of Pluto Train 2 to Global Infrastructure
A global infrastructure investor has taken a near $5 billion piece of Woodside Petroleum’s Pluto LNG expansion in a major fillip for the WA company’s plans to approve the huge Scarborough gas project by year’s end.
The deal will give Global Infrastructure Partners a 49 per cent stake in Woodside’s proposed second train at the Pluto LNG plant on the Burrup Peninsula that would be developed to process gas from Scarborough.
Woodside is tracking towards a final investment decision on Scarborough by mid-December,..” potentially leading to more Pluto work for our RCRMT division and maybe others
(See RCR ‘long history with Woodside’ post from 2019 with some relevant links if interested in the past relationship [here] )

And today the Kogan Creek extension gives more signs of the positive work environment for Golding in Queensland where Jules said he will be/is targeting new work as well as contract extensions.

How soon till $2 is gone ?

    cheers
