There are far more bulls than bears on Hotcopper. Most of us like an upwardly trending market because that is how the easy money is made.

However, many at present are in hiding and not willing to check out the prices of their shares in case the sight of the figures gives them a bellyache or worse.

All the people you quoted made many wrong predictions during 2007 and 2008. I am sure if they said the same thing often enough then eventually they could be right, just like a stopped clock is right twice each day.

By the way, did Craig James warn people to get out of the market in late 2007 or in 2008? What about the other gurus you mentioned?

Beware the front men for the financial system. They are there for a purpose - to placate the multitudes who work their butts off so that the financial intermediaries can feed off them.

By the way, my broker sent me (and its other clients) a special email around July/August 2007 saying everything was OK. It contained an analysis of the international banking problems by JPMorgan which claimed the total losses around the world would only amount to about $50-100 billion and were insignificant in the bigger picture. I emailed my broker back after work with my contrary views and shortly thereafter moved my superfund into cash because I realised for JPMorgan to have prepared such an idiotic information paper the situation would have to be pretty bad. Unfortunately I continued to play with other money in the market thinking that I could survive, but instead got burnt.

Listen to your broker and the front men for the financial industry if you wish, but at least keep an open mind to alternative views.
