When we were kids everyone looked forward to their local Ag shows as the main event of the year. They grew veggies to enter, cooking, handicrafts and trained their horses to enter all the events. Sideshow alley was enjoyed by all. Most kids today probably yawn if they are taken to the sideshows. We've gained a lot but lost a lot as our society has changed. I heard of a local family last year who bought all their Christmas presents from Op shops with a $5 limit. They then collected all the extra cash they would normally spend and donated it to a local charity.
