I was in the emergency department of Sydney Children's hospital some time ago with my sick child.
One of the registrars wore a burkha.
Every time she came out, only eyes visible, to call in another patient, I hoped it wasn't our turn yet. This is despite a couple of hours of waiting.
Fortunately for us, we got a non-burkha clad male doctor that night.
I can tell you that the last thing families needed that night, or any other night, is for their sick child, in addition to whatever illness made them come to the hospital, was to be scared by someone whose face they cannot even see.
Now we can debate forever if burkha should be banned for good or not, but SURELY it should not be allowed for doctors and other professions requiring a lot of social contact, especially with kids.
