    You may not have got a scrip offer but if you were clever you could have got a better deal out of the market effects of the takeover bid. If you sold 1,000 GMF shares on 12 December 2002 you could have bought 2,777 BPC on the same day. The takeover bid pushed the GMF price up 25% and BPC down 22%. If you sold GMF near the top and bought BPC near the bottom you would now have more than 4,000 BPC, and some good recovery potential to boot.
